Lena uses bright colours in her design to create a sense of summer joy associated with flowers in bloom. The design was inspired by the Battle of Flowers, a major annual event in Jersey. All the flowers in the design are edible, which add colour, texture, flavour and nutrition to our food. Flowers provide nectar and pollen for bees and other insects whose populations are declining. They also encourage insects that help manage pests and pollinate crops, all helping with conservation. Lena uses her signature dot work to add depth and detail.
